The protagonist of the recent movie See How They Run is the washed-up Inspector Stoppard, who seems to demonstrate some unsavory qualities. It's natural for the audience to root for the protagonist, even if they happen to be a career criminal or anti-hero. After all, the movie or TV show is usually designed to try and create that connection between the viewer and the character. But despite how fans might feel about these figures, they are still horrible people.
